On Nov 20, 2003 Bright Aurora was seen as far south as Florida from solar flares from sunspot group 10484. These pictures were taken in Gastonia, NC.
These exposures are about 5 minutes each taken with a Pentax K1000 35mm SLR on an ordinary tripod using a 50mm lens and Kodak Elite Chrome 200 slide film.
The entire show lasted for only a couple hours with the Aurora flaring and fading repeatedly in different sections of the north and northwest sky.
Occasionally the bright Red Aurora was accompanied by a Bluish or Emerald Green Aurora.
Just before the Auroral activity ended I looked up and saw this plume extended all the way to the zenith, directly overhead.
